Vegetable Soup

Very cheap and makes a lot. Ok, it's not a side of steak but it's a better dinner than bread & butter!

Ingredients Potatos (4 - 6) Pumpkin (just a bit) Carrots Chicken Stock Scrunch of salt Tomato Pasta Method

Dice up potatoes into cm sized chunks. Put large pot on to medium heat, slosh some oil in the bottom. Put all the potato chunkettes in and stir em round the pan. Make sure they don't stick (trust me!) This helps sorta seal the veges or something. Then do the same for the pumpkin. Ditto far carrots. Once things have been sizzling add the salt, chicken stock, tomato paste and then pour in a jug of hot water. Then stir some more. Once you're sure things won't blow up put a lid on the pot and make some money for an hour or two. Serve when ready.

Variations Let it cool down and reheat the next day Add some MicroPasta&tm; before serving Fry some onions & garlic right at the beginning Ditto fo...

Sugar Buns

A soft, round light coloured biscuit with a slightly sweet taste. Not at all hard like a regular biscuit, almost more of a cake consistency. Very yummy.

Ingredients 1 cup of flour 1 teaspoon of baking powder ~1/4 cup of sugar 1 egg some milk if needed Lots of chocolate buttons Method

Mix the flour and baking powder in a bowl. Add the margarine and rub into the flour. Yes, this is messy! Rub until it's like bread crumbs. Note that you really need to get this part right. If it is too buttery then you'll get rather flat and soggy buns! Not sure how important this is, but lift and "sprinkle" the mixture back into the bowl. This adds air apparently. Add in the sugar, stir in roughly. Amount of sugar isn't critical. Add the egg and mix. If it's still too crumbly, add in a tiny amount of milk and stir some more. You don't want it too sticky! Finally add lots of chocolate buttons to the mix and roughly mix in. ...

Spagheti Bolognese

Cheap & quick, and very very very tasty.

Ingredients Speghetti (bout 1 pack for 6 people) Mince (bout 600grams for 6) Jar of bolognese sauce (worth it, makes enough for 4) Couple of onions Salt, pepper, ginger & some garlic Method

Slice up onions, garlic. Place into large pot on medium heat and saute. Meanwhile heat a large pot of water to boiling point. Once the onions are on their way, add the mince to the pot. Break it up so it doesn't look too much like mince. Add a twist of salt & pepper as needed. Once mince is starting to look cooked add the garlic and some ginger, then add the bolognese sauce shortly after. Keep the heat on and try to reduce it a little... makes it taste better and it'll make less mess when trying to eat it! 12 mins before you're ready to serve put the spaghetti into the boiling water. Keep it boiling(ish) and stir occasionally. Once everything is done, serve & get someone else to...

Stir Fry

A quick & easy one pot + one pan meal that even tastes good.

Ingredients Pork (snitchel can be good) or Chicken Rice (1/4 cup per person) Baby corn Sauce (cantong is good) Sunflower seeds Method

Heat up frying pan really hot. Put in some sunflower seeds, then add olive oil. Put rice on to cook just before putting finely chopped meat into frying pan. Stir rice after a few mins to stop it lumping together. Keep stirring meat. Once almost cooked put in corn & then add sauce slightly later. Turn down when sauce starts bubbling. Ditto for rice. Rice takes about 8 mins too cook supposedly. Keep cooking till rice is done (test by biting, shouldn't be crunchy!) When all done serve rice, then add meat/sauce, then finally top with something nice looking.

Variations Different meat Use onions/garlic instead of sunflower seeds Different kinds of sauces Try using pizza sauce & cheese Swap rice for pasta

My not so secret pizza recipe

Ingredients 1x pizza base (pros like to make their own; I'm too lazy for that!) Sauce for base (pizza sauce, tomato paste, sweet chilli sauce or even BBQ sauce work fine) Cheese, preferably mozeralla Meat Pinapple Capsicum Method
